Frequently asked questions
- What kinds of places are on Famlo?
- Co-ops, microschools, pods, tutors, enrichment programs, studios, sports clubs, camps, venues, attractions, libraries, faith-based communities, and parent-led support groups — every kind of place that brings families and kids together.
- How do I find a co-op or microschool near me?
- Open the search picker, set your location, and filter by Type (Co-ops, Microschools, etc.). You can also filter by age range and search by name. Each listing has its own page with photos, description, capacity, and contact info.
- What's the difference between a co-op and a microschool?
- Co-ops are parent-led — families take turns teaching classes or organizing activities, usually meeting once or twice a week. Microschools are smaller, full-time learning communities (often 5–20 students) led by paid teachers. Both are alternatives to traditional school; the right fit depends on how much time you want to invest and your educational philosophy.
- How do I list my organization on Famlo?
- Sign up for a free account, then click List your organization. Add photos, a description, the ages you serve, and your contact info. Listings go live within a day. Famlo never charges organizations to be listed.
- Are these places only for homeschool families?
- No. Many listings welcome after-schoolers, weekend learners, and families looking for community alongside traditional school. Each listing notes whether it serves homeschoolers specifically or families more broadly.
- Are organizations vetted?
- Famlo is community-driven, not a credentialing service. Listings are created by the organizations themselves; reviews and follower counts give you a signal. Always verify policies, insurance, and background checks directly with the organization before enrolling your kids.
