About This Event
Celebrate Native American Heritage Month by learning about sustainable agricultural practices. The Three Sisters method of planting involves planting beans, corn and squash together, as the plants’ different traits work together to help them grow. It is thought to have been developed by the Seneca people in present-day New York and is used by many subsistence farmers today. Craft an artistic version of a Three Sisters garden to understand how the plants interact and why both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities still rely on it today. Materials provided while supplies last.
