About This Event

Step back in time and learn about one of Florida's most influential naturalists in this engaging living history presentation. William “Billy” Bartram initially journeyed through our region in 1766 alongside his father, John. He returned alone in 1774 to delve deeper into exploration, documenting and illustrating the plants, animals, and Indigenous peoples he encountered. This presentation, featuring artifacts presented by Mike Adams as Billy, will highlight William Bartram's remarkable experiences. Registration required. This program is for ages 7+, adults are required to attend with their youth. Mike Adams is a naturalist, researcher, educator and author. He holds a BS in Biology, with studies in Anthropology and a MS in Environmental Management. He provides conservation lectures and tours, writes a nature blog, is a former chairman of the Land Acquisition and Management Program (LAMP) in St. Johns County, serves as Palatka’s St. Johns River Center docent, Ex Aficio director of the Bartram Trail Society of Florida, volunteers at St. Augustine Alligator Farm and Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. He brings natural history to life with his colorful and exciting portrayals of colonial naturalist and explorer William Bartram.
