Page Turners: Visual Edition

Graphic novels, comics, manga lovers can unite over our love of stories told through amazing art! This summer we will have a monthly visual narrative challenge, and everyone can read whatever type of story they would like as long as they can relate back to the challenge theme. During our program, reader's can share what they read matching the theme and discover more types and stories that explore the same concept. Monthly Challenges June Found Family Trope The “found family trope” is a literary device about the connections between a group of characters who form deep, lasting bonds with each other, even though they aren’t blood-related. In many cases, these characters have been separated from their biological family, so they find love, support, and trust in their “chosen family,” instead. July Reluctant Hero The reluctant hero/villain trope is literary archetype featuring a protagonist/antagonist who resists engaging in adventure or performing heroic/villainous acts.
