These women may not be well known, but they contributed to their communities in ways that in many cases are still being felt today. Their actions and vision helped shape the unique state and region that we live in today. About this Series This lecture is a part of the Sarasota County History Center's Summer 2026 Florida History Lecture Series "Leading Ladies," which explores the women whose leadership, creativity, discoveries and contributions helped shape Sarasota, the Gulf Coast, and Florida history.
