Famlo: families nearby find you, and the price stays yours
You’re ready for Famlo if any of these sound like you
Outschool keeps 30% of every class price, from the first family to the last
Families pay a further fee on top that Outschool doesn’t publish
Nothing that meets in a room can be sold on Outschool
Your families’ details have to stay on Outschool
You’re paid 70% through PayPal, a week or more after class
Get found by the families who live near you
Outschool brings a national audience to classes taught on Zoom. Famlo puts your classes, in a room, online or both, on a map homeschool parents near you search by their kids’ ages and the dates they’re free, and Local insights shows you what they want that nobody nearby offers yet.
No card. Listing stays free whether or not you ever collect a penny through us.
Keep your own roster, with allergies and pickup on it
Outschool’s teacher policies forbid keeping families’ information outside Outschool, and every message stays on the platform. On Famlo the roster is yours: families add each child once, allergies and pickup arrive with the registration, teachers take attendance from their phone, and you can export it whenever you like.
No card. Listing stays free whether or not you ever collect a penny through us.
Keep the price you set, and your own refund rules
Outschool keeps 30% of the class price, adds a fee for the family it doesn’t publish, and sets one refund policy for every class. Famlo’s free plan takes nothing from your price; families pay a booking fee when they book, unless you cover it. You set the refund terms, and on the Scholarship plan Step Up families choose “my scholarship pays” and Famlo writes the invoice.
No card. Listing stays free whether or not you ever collect a penny through us.

Upgrade from Outschool to Famlo in three steps
Start your own list in an afternoon, and keep teaching on Outschool while it grows.
-
1
Start with the families you know
Outschool’s policies keep the families you met there on Outschool, so build your list from your own: past families, your newsletter, your co-op. Famlo needs:
- Each family's email
- A role for anyone on your team, if you want one
-
2
Invite them in one go
Upload the file under People. Families already on Famlo join your group; everyone else gets an email to sign up and add their children once.
-
3
Publish next term
List your classes free. They go on the map and your public page, and you send families one link. Stuck on a step? famlo.co/support opens a ticket with the team.
Questions about switching from Outschool
We teach online. Is Outschool the better choice?
For live online classes to families across the country, Outschool brings demand Famlo doesn’t, and it handles Zoom, refunds and teacher background checks for you. Famlo is built for groups families can find near home: classes in a room, online or both, with the price, the roster and the refund rules yours.
Can we keep Outschool for online classes and run the rest on Famlo?
Yes. Outschool allows an organization to run classes outside Outschool. Its policies keep the families you met there on Outschool, though, so invite the families you already know, not the ones Outschool sent you.
Is Famlo cheaper than Outschool’s 30%?
On Famlo’s free plan your group keeps the full price you set. Families pay a booking fee when they book, unless you cover it, and scholarship money carries none. Outschool keeps 30% of every class price, and families pay a marketplace fee on top.
Outschool takes Step Up money. Does Famlo?
Yes, on the Scholarship plan: Step Up families choose “my scholarship pays” at checkout and Famlo writes the invoice. Outschool is itself an approved vendor for Step Up and other state programs, so it bills them for you.
Does Famlo vet teachers the way Outschool does?
No. Outschool reviews every listing and pays for each teacher’s yearly background check. On Famlo your group decides who teaches, and staff roles decide what each person can see.
What if we leave Famlo?
Export your registrations, rosters and attendance as CSV, then delete your group. There is no exit fee.
